Job Description
We are taking applications for part-time seasonal AT/ Backcountry Ski Guides for the coming winter. If you want to spend time outside in the beautiful Vermont winter, do not mind working hard, and are a positive person come join our team.
Preferred knowledge and skills include previous outdoor leadership experience, First Aid/ CPR training. The ability to work weekends and holidays is an essential part of our business. We are looking for a season-long commitment.
Job Responsibilities:
Fit and use of ski equipment (boots, bindings, skins, etc.)
Risk management
Backcountry travel techniques and tips (layering, pacing, ski technique, etc.)
Maintain current CPR & First Aid certifications
Be familiar with other outdoor equipment
Be familiar with terrain and trails where tours are held
Have GREAT people skills; ability to lead and entertain diverse ages, abilities, and backgrounds
Have knowledge of outdoors, safety precautions, potential hazards, and emergency protocol
Be reliable and be committed to work on contracted days
Abide by Umiak policies as stated in employee contract and manual
Work Hours:
Day positions available
Holidays and Weekends are necessary

Must be able to lift 50 lbs overhead

PSIA or AANSI certification is preferred, but not required

During the tour we work on different climbing techniques as well as an efficient skin to ski transition prior to a powder-filled downhill run.
